West Eninteer Steading

Muir of Fowlis, Alford

West Eninteer Steading was a large, disused agricultural building converted into a single residence.

The proposals included the creation of a large kitchen, dining room, family room and lounge along with master bedroom suite and two bedrooms with ensuites on the ground floor. Fortunately the height of the existing roofs allowed for the creation of a first floor and a further two bedrooms and an open plan multipurpose room over-looking the kitchen. Bespoke oak staircases and glass handrails finished the gallery to allow light to penetrate internal areas.

The proposals ensured that the vernacular appearance of the building was retained while providing a modern and comfortable family home which stands out within its hillside location. A new garage and boiler store was built to the rear to allow an eco-friendly pellet boiler to provide heat and hot water to the home.
