Update on Current Local Development Plan

The review of the Aberdeenshire Local Development Plan 2017 is well underway.

Planning officials at Aberdeenshire Council consulted with communities and key stakeholders in 2017 and 2018. A “Call for Sites” took place in Spring 2018 where landowners and developers submitted bids to have sites included for development in the Proposed Aberdeenshire Local Development Plan 2021.

The Main Issues Report was published earlier this year which showed all the submitted bids and which sites are preferred, or not, by officers. The Main Issues Report is an opportunity for the public to comment on a range of policy issues and also the development bids.

Officers are currently assessing all the comments which have been made and it is anticipated that the Proposed Local Development Plan 2021 shall be presented to elected members in the autumn. An examination of the Proposed Plan by Scottish Ministers will take place early in 2020 followed by adoption of the LDP by the end of 2020.
