Luxury Apartments and Cottages, Dornoch
We are delighted to be working alongside Kirkwood Homes and their client, Dornoch Development Ltd, to deliver two apartment blocks each housing twelve, two bedroom apartments and four affordable cottages on the site next to the Royal Golf Hotel in Dornoch.
The site is split into two parts bisected by Kennedy Avenue with the smaller section of site to the West housing four semi-detached, affordable cottages with associated car parking and garden grounds. The apartments have been sited to take advantage of the surrounding views, and the existing natural landscape of mature trees.
The concept for the elevational treatment was to create a simple, yet elegant architectural solution to respond to the grand and historic nature of the Royal Golf Hotel, the site and the settlement of Dornoch. Getting the correct architectural proportions was essential to ensure the new buildings fit cohesively into the traditional style of the locale.
The Royal Golf Hotel is one of the best golfing destinations in Scotland, situated on the Royal Dornoch First Tee. The hotel itself is a large draw for tourists worldwide, which greatly supports the economy of the surrounding area. The addition of the new development will only enhance the facilities within Dornoch.
Due to the fact the site is a natural extension of the existing residential settlement it is thought that the cottages and apartments will provide a further link between the Royal Golf Hotel and the town centre, supporting the natural environment, character of the conservation area and amenity of the properties in the area.
Should planning permission be granted by The Highland Council, construction is programmed to start Spring 2017.
