This attractive bungalow was built on the site of a former 1 ¾ storey traditional granite house as a replacement dwelling. The client wished to downsize and build a single storey home to retire in. The design reflects and respects the character of the local area with familiar traditional details such as the bay windows and piended bellcast slate roof. High quality materials were used to further integrate the house into its setting. A mix of smooth ashlar and split faced granite with smooth granite mullions, lintols and cills picking out the various elevational features has successfully achieved a charming, well-proportioned new dwelling which sits well in the existing townscape.
