J G Ross, a long established bakers originating in Premnay, had been in their premises at Port Elphinstone in Inverurie for many years however had outgrown this and required to replace with a new modern facility.
The project on a sloping site has a two storey frontage incorporating retail and cafeteria on the ground floor with all the offices and production offices on the first floor leading directly to the bakery.
The most important aspect of the bakery was to understand the flow of raw materials through the process to the completed product, packaging and distribution. Dealing with food, cooking, baking in high risk areas was extremely important and much consultation was carried out with Environmental Health during the design process to ensure a very efficient production system.
